National STEM Scholarship Programs

Below is a list of major scholarship opportunities available to undergraduate students across the United States. National programs often come with stronger financial support, wider networks, and long term career benefits, so these are excellent options to track for the 2025 to 2026 cycle.

  SMART Scholarship for Service Program: The SMART Scholarship is a Department of Defense program that provides full tuition, a generous stipend, paid summer internships, and guaranteed civilian employment to STEM students who want to build a long-term career in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics.

  NSF S‑STEM Program: The S-STEM program supports colleges and universities by funding scholarships for academically talented low-income STEM students and by helping institutions design, implement, and study evidence-based activities that strengthen recruitment, retention, transfer, student success, and graduation in high-need STEM fields.

  Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship: The Amazon Future Engineer Scholarship provides up to $40,000 in college funding, a paid summer internship at Amazon, and mentorship for high school seniors pursuing computer science or related STEM fields who demonstrate financial need and meet eligibility requirements.

  The Gates Scholarship: The Gates Scholarship is a highly selective award that covers the full cost of attendance for exceptional low-income high school seniors who demonstrate strong academics, leadership, and personal success skills and plan to enroll full-time at a U.S. accredited four-year college or university.

  National STEM Excellence Scholarship Program: The National STEM Excellence Scholarship awards one-time $10,000 scholarships to high-achieving U.S. high school seniors, graduates, and undergraduates pursuing full-time STEM degrees at four-year colleges, with recipients selected based on academics, leadership, goals, personal circumstances, and financial need.

  AFCEA STEM Majors Scholarships: The AFCEA STEM Majors Scholarships offer $2,500 to $5,000 awards to eligible U.S. sophomore and junior undergraduates pursuing qualifying STEM fields, with one application considered for all available opportunities.

Women in STEM Scholarship

  Science Ambassador Scholarship: The Science Ambassador Scholarship awards five $20,000 tuition scholarships to undergraduate women and non-binary students in STEM.

  Society of Women Engineers: The Society of Women Engineers (SWE) offers more than 250 scholarships each year to undergraduate and graduate students in engineering and related fields, using a single application that automatically considers applicants for all awards they are eligible for.

  BHW Scholarship for Women in STEM: The BHW Scholarship is a $3,000 award for women pursuing undergraduate or master’s degrees in STEM at U.S. Colleges.

STEM Scholarships for Black Students

  HBCU - FOSSI Scholarship: The FOSSI Scholarship awards up to $40,000 to high school seniors planning to attend an HBCU and pursue a STEM major, supporting students who want to create positive impact through science, technology, engineering, or math.

  Black at Microsoft Scholarship: The Black at Microsoft (BAM) Scholarship supports high school seniors who demonstrate financial need, passion for technology, strong academics, and leadership, awarding funding to students pursuing technology-related majors at four-year U.S. Colleges.

STEM Scholarships for Latinx Students

  HOLA at Microsoft Scholarship: The HOLA at Microsoft Scholarship supports U.S.-based Hispanic and Latinx high school seniors with financial need who plan to pursue technology or business-related majors, with recipients selected based on their commitment to STEM, academic performance, leadership, and a weighted evaluation that includes an essay, activities, recommendation, and financial circumstances.

  ScholarSHPE: ScholarSHPE offers multiple STEM scholarship opportunities for Hispanic high school seniors, undergraduate students, graduate students, and professionals, using one common application and awarding funding to active SHPE members pursuing STEM degrees at accredited U.S. colleges and universities.

STEM Scholarships for AAPI Students

  APIA Scholarships: The APIA Scholarship Program offers one-year and multi-year awards ranging from $2,500 to $20,000 for undergraduate students attending accredited U.S. colleges, with a focus on first-generation and low-income Asian and Pacific Islander American students.

  AAa/e Scholarship: The Asian American Architects and Engineers Foundation offers annual scholarships and grants to students and professionals pursuing architecture, engineering, or construction careers.
