Alejandro Rocha: First Generation and Future Engineer

My name is Alejandro Rocha. I Am 23 years old and in my 2nd year of college studying Industrial Automation, Industrial Technology, Process control, and Liberal Arts at Bakersfield College.
I am a first generation college student from two families. I grew up in foster care. I am the first of my 5 brothers and 1 sister to be getting an AS next year and will be the first in my family to get a Bachelors degree.

My motivation and determination to be a successful student and person in life comes from the struggles and challenges that I had faced during my  childhood.

I plan on seeking a career in Industrial Engineering or Electrical Engineering. I have already begun speaking to different employers such as Randy Pico from the Livermore Laboratory. I am highly interested in the advancement of technology and where it can lead me to in the future.

I grew up in foster homes, group homes, and in the streets. I have allowed my upbringing to be negative. But since I began on my educational journey I have found hope that I will be able to be a successful person in life.

Through every dark tunnel their will always be light at the end so regardless of how your classes are going or your job or whatever your profession is strive for excellence and you will succeed.
