Hosted on October 11th, this workshop guided students through the process of writing authentic and compelling scholarship essays that stand out. Participants learned how to identify common mistakes, structure their essays effectively, and connect personal experiences to scholarship goals.
Key topics included:
Avoiding the three most common essay issues: listing without explanation, assuming the reader knows you, and writing about others instead of yourself.
Using a cheat sheet to tailor essays for different scholarship types and audiences, break down broad prompts into specific responses, apply the Hook–Experience–Results–Connection framework, and organize ideas using bullet points for clarity
The majority of the session was spent providing one-on-one guidance, allowing students to receive personalized feedback and develop a clear plan for crafting their own scholarship-winning essays.
